The Five Elements, How was it formed?

Now since we already learned how the 5 planets relates to our "Hoh-Toe" 河圖 the "River Diagram", let's put the picture together with the planet's name in Chinese which already tell you the "5 elements" which is the five planets, note that the center is "earth star" which is Saturn. (no space to write)

If you are confused, please remember to read to previous lesson and you will get it. Now we will move on since you are all clear about this pattern shown above.

In the previous lessons, we talked about how the "Tai Chi Logo" was formed, now this diagram totally can be overlapped and reference to learn the next stage of the math. First because during the "winter comes" at the bottom (Tai Yin) everything start from "one drop of yang" energy and go from one and grows as winter goes to spring... and so, one is the done dot used for number in the "water" element section.

The summer comes at the top (Tai Yang) two is the number used for "fire". Why? Because during this period of time, the south is very hot and so we use "fire" as the element. The number 2 was used for the second element in the half half yin yang diagram. (reference back to our lesson on Tai Chi Logo).

The next is spring, which is number three where we split the half half pie into four quarters. This time is when everything start to grow and so we use "wood" to symbolize growth and vitality. This is the left portion of the diagram

The forth quarter in the pie right portion of the diagram, which is the autumn, and during this time people can harvest and so gold is what they use to symbolize this "harvesting period".

The nature nourish the things on earth and during the end of each seasons, the changes are the most vivid and noticeable. Therefore, during the spring, summer, autumn and winter, (lunar March, June, September and December) the last 18 days of these months are categorized as the "earth" element. in the center.

Now if you add the center to all four directions, you can get the outer layer. See the center 5 + 3 on the left, that is 8 on the left. You can do so for the 5 + 2 = 7 on the top. 5 + 4 = 9 on the right. 5 + 1 = 6 on the bottom part. This now sets the foundation of the "River Diagram" which all relates together with what the ancient Chinese saw from the sky -> what's happening around days and months -> what's happen on our planet earth,etc,. This is just amazing! Now if you add all the numbers together, you get :

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 +9 + 10 = 55

So 55 is what the call the "Celestial number" 天數 Tin-So. Which is the sum of this diagram. If you subtracts 5 from the 55, you get 50. Now, what's so special about it?

Do you remember what this is? Yes, this is the "Gwai Biu" that we talked about in the first lesson with the "Tai Chi Logo". This actually is formed by a triangle structure to see the shadow as well. The ancient Chinese also did the math and found this...!

Do you see how the pattern of the 3 sides are like? 3, 4, 5 units and it now = 50 blocks units. Cool math trick right? Now this is why the Chinese all agreed this diagram and the numbers on the diagrams are all related and very mathematically interacting with the astronomical studies as well. So they call this "Dai hin Ji So" 大衍之數, meaning the "Number of Evolution".

The number 49 is so "holy like" is also because of this, as you can see the purple square there up in the diagram above, the surface of that is also 7x7 = 49, which is 50 minus one unit (you need one unit to cycle the nature pattern, so you reserve one). Cool stuff!

After about 800 years from Fuk Hey 伏義's incredible finding of the Hoh-Toe "River diagram" and all that other cool stuff,.... one day there was a huge flood and a wise man was appointed to fix the problem. This wise man is 大禹 Daai-Yue. This man is a very faithful man. He put his life all into this project and even there were times he walked by his house, he don't even step into the door but walked straight back to the flooding area and start to work. Many methods were used and none of them work. One day, he saw a huge turtle arise form the sea, and he saw the patterns on the turtle's shell and totally got enlightened!

This is what he saw on the turtle's back! Doesn't it just looks like the Hoh-Toe "River Diagram"? Now he realized that this is just like how the Hoh-Toe works but the re-aligned the placements and if you can see the groups...! This diagram was found in the 洛水, which is the flood from another place, and so it is now called the Lok-Sue 洛書. If you put the 5 elements from the Hoh-Toe 河圖 into the diagram you will see the fall into groups like this (yellow is the gold here).

If you can see the pattern of the 5 elements, this is how the Lok-Sue 洛書 works. Now try to add from any directions in a straight line and you get 15. Then minus the center 5 and you get 10. Cool, this is the magic square we talk about in the west! The wise man knew this got to be something cool and so he recorded it and start to digest and figure out the patterns to see if it can improve his wisdom to brew up new ideas to fix the flooding problem.

This pattern is also how the 9 brightest constellations out of the 28-constellations look as well which the Chinese use them to set the square that frame up the 28 constellations. Amazingly, the pattern and number of stars are the same as this diagram.

In history Dai-Yue then started to dig into this pattern and learned how the pattern of five elements works, and he planned out his project by using the mathematical formula with the triangles and he dig up 9 rivers, opened up 9 mountains, and fixed up the flood from 9 major places. This is how he became the famous guy who fixed up this "dooms day" for the ancient China!

How did he figured out the five elements cycle? That is another big lecture....
