Why some Taoist don't eat beef?
Some Taoist or Taoist lineage don't eat beef and that is one of their taboo as well. Their reason for "don't eat beef" is because they think the original founder of Taoism is Lao Tse and Lao Tse ride an ox, so they respect that ox and they don't eat the cows.
Another reason or theory of "don't eat beef" is that some think the cow have been working hard for human in the past for farming and so we pay them back by not eating them.
Some other lineages even think if they eat beef they will lose the magical power because it is something that Taoist cannot eat to avoid some kind of reaction in their body can pollute them and they will lose their magic by voidng the taboo.
